CASE STUDIES:
When a Diabetic Toddler began vomiting at daycare, her provider gave her juice as ordered. Her next medication dose resulted in another reaction. The provider called an ambulance that took the child to the nearest Emergency Department. Emergency Department Staff started lab tests, strip tests, but were not informed that she had Insulin 2 hours ago. If the toddler was wearing a MAIDMED, staff would have known about the medication & the dose making it safer to begin a treatment plan. MAID MED would be attached to her wrist or ankle.
If our son administered his Epipen at school for his nut allergy, how would the Emergency Department Staff know the drug was given? School & transfer staff will document it but what if there is an error?
